Welcome to the First EAGE/PESGB Workshop on Velocities

Despite considerable improvements in seismic data quality and imaging algorithms, velocities and earth models remain the key challenge for depth prediction. Therefor EAGE and PESGB have joint forces to establish a series of workshops to address this and other issues involved in velocities. In this first workshop we focus on all aspects of reducing uncertainties; including applications in seismic imaging, velocity model building, pore pressure prediction, depth conversion and drilling.

The First EAGE/PESGB Workshop on Velocities took place from 22-23 February in London. In total EAGE and PESGB welcomed 60 geoscientists at the workshop.

Both associations considered the workshop to be a great success and are looking forward to continuing the collaboration on this and other series of events in 2018 and beyond. The next EAGE/PESGB workshop will take place in London on 29-30 November with Machine Learning as topic.
