Workshop Description

Enhance prediction capability for pore pressure and geomechanical parameters to aid safer and more efficient operations during drilling, intervention and abandonment of wells. Investigate options, tools and ideas for more close integration of all related disciplines, to be able to use all available data in one consistent framework and thereby narrow uncertainty bands. In order to do so we need to coordinate the effort of all subsurface disciplines in collaboration with the drilling community.

We have for a long time focussed almost all of the subsurface effort on the reservoirs, while often wasting a lot of time and money on trying to reach them with wells. To increase safety and predictability during drilling operations and thereby make more development projects fly (both green field and late in field life infill projects) we must increase our ability to drill wells with fever encountered problems. Only by making the most of all available data in one consistent framework can we narrow uncertainty bands enough to allow us to comfortably embark on drilling wells closer to the limits of what is possible, make sure to maintain control during workovers and to plug off wells efficiently and safely at abandonment.
